L-Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that you need it to stay healthy, but it cannot be synthesised by your cells, so you need to get it from your diet.

image Description

L-Lysine is found in all protein-rich foods. It is a necessary building block for all proteins in the body. L-Lysine plays an important role in the absorption of calcium, the building of muscle protein and the production of hormones, enzymes and antibodies in the body.

Lysine in Recover-Me

L-Lysine has been specifically added to Recover-Me to enhance the effects of the special arginine form of Arginine, L-Arginine-L-Pidolate. An additional benefit is that the potential activation of the -dormant- herpes simplex virus, is reduced when the intake of L-Arginine is increased.

Both L-Arginine and L-Lysine are needed for optimal health support. Their combined effects are desirable in several situations, such as potentially increasing growth hormone levels and strengthening your bones.

Increasing growth hormone levels

L-lysine has been tested alone and in combination with L-Arginine and has been shown to be effective in increasing growth hormone production and suppressing the herpes virus (HSV).

has L-Lysine in its formula to maximise the absorption of L-Arginine into the body and to enhance the release of GH during sleep and offset any possible herpes outbreak. It is very important that people read all the clinical data, to fully understand the reasons why we have formulated Recover-Me the way we have.

Bone Health

A study published in the December 2002 issue of Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy ( showed that a combination of L-Arginine and L-Lysine supplements stimulated the activity of human osteoblasts, the cells responsible for increasing bone mass. In this laboratory experiment, L-Arginine's effects on Nitric Oxide-induced cell signalling and L-lysine's contributions to collagen synthesis triggered increased bone production in the test tube when both amino acids were administered to osteoblasts together.
