Despite the great things that are being said about L-arginine, basic oral administration of L-arginine alone does not trigger all of the benefits of the “miracle molecule” to play a significant role in the body. After the the long bone growth has stopped the body hardly absorbs arginine. The combination of ingredients in the right proportion in Recover-Me maximises the absorption of L-arginine.
The typical western diet provides a person with 3 to 6 g of L-arginine per day. Common food sources of L-arginine are nuts, dairy, soy protein, meat and seafood with a bioavailability of about 60%. However, most of this L-arginine is not converted by the body to therapeutic levels after the "long bone growth" has stopped (around 23 years). This led us to look for an alternative source to adequately convert L-arginine. As simple as this may seem, tests show that unless the L-arginine molecule is of the correct type (L-pyroglutamate) and surrounded by L-lysine and L-glutamine, the conversion of L-arginine to nitric oxide does not occur at levels considered effective.

The focus of Recover-Me is to increase the L-arginine levels in the body and the brain, in order to increase nitric oxide production and to increase growth hormone levels, in order to slow down the aging process. The available L-arginine found in the body arises from the transformation of the L-arginine L-pidolate and by L-glutamine (which is converted to L-citrulline and later on into L-arginine). The L-arginine L-pidolate can cross the blood-brain barrier more easily, which accounts for the higher L-arginine levels in the brain.

Recover-Me is based on Isomaltulose, a double sugar molecule (disaccharide), which is found in trace amounts in sugar cane and honey, consisting of the monosaccharides glucose and fructose. Due to its strong bond, the sugar is digested very slowly (low glycemic index), (tooth friendly) and delivers prolonged energy.
Low Glycemic Index (GI)
The glycemic index is a measure of the effects of carbohydrates on blood glucose levels. Carbohydrates that break down rapidly during digestion, releasing monosaccharides like glucose and fructose into the bloodstream, have a high GI (i.e. table sugar).
Carbohydrates that break down slowly, releasing monosaccharides gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI (i.e. Isomaltulose). The GI Range of a low GI product is 55 or less. Recover-Me uses Isomaltulose as carbohydrate, which has a GI of 32. The amino acids in Recover-Me have no effect on the glycemic index.
